I am finally about to receive my real estate license.
Since January 2024, when I decided to fully support my daughter with raising her children, many things have happened to bring me to where I am today.
For over 20 years, I worked in the finance departments of foreign-affiliated companies. I changed jobs several times, but my work was consistently in small companies with fewer than 20 employees. While my main responsibility was finance, I was also involved in HR, general affairs, and even legal-related tasks, handling a wide range of operations across the company.
After my daughter got married and had two daughters, she struggled with childcare. Since she couldn’t manage on her own, I moved closer to her and decided to fully support her.
To do that, I first had to leave my job. I started by reorganizing my life so that I could immediately respond whenever something happened, putting my grandchildren first.
Eventually, I left my company in August 2025 (there happened to be a restructuring, so it was technically a company-driven departure). Before leaving, I had already secured my current office space in July.
When I started preparing for the real estate business, I quickly realized that many landlords hesitate to rent to new companies. Because of that, I secured the office early and slowly handled the interior setup myself little by little. (I will write about this process in another post—it was honestly quite challenging.)
Due to unemployment insurance and other factors, I established my company in November 2025. I handled all procedures myself, submitted the necessary documents to government offices, and finally reached the point of applying for my real estate license in mid-December. By then, I was both physically and mentally exhausted.
About 70 days after applying, in February 2026, I am finally about to receive my license. It has been a long journey. I felt unstable both physically and emotionally, and it required a significant amount of money. Starting this company has truly been a difficult process.
However, this is where it really begins.
I have to make this business work. Otherwise, I won’t be able to support my grandchildren—or even maintain my own life. That is the mindset I carry with me every day.
With the establishment of my company, I also decided to start writing a blog. The main theme will be “Real Estate and Money.” While continuing to learn myself, I will share useful information little by little. I hope you will find it helpful.
From time to time, I would also like to share my daily life as a solo business owner.
Thank you for your support going forward.
